I’m thirty-years-old; that’s right. And, of course, I had my momentary crisis where I was thinking to myself, Oh my god, where did all the time go? I still have so much I want to do with my life!
But after that, I had the realization that I’ve actually accomplished a lot within my thirty years of life, and have learned so many life lessons. In ode to turning thirty, here are 30 life lessons I want to share with you.
- If someone is interested in you, they will let you know.
- You cannot control what happens around you, but you can control your reaction.
- Saying no is like taking a shit. It may sting the nostrils of others, but it’ll feel amazing.
- A good haircut goes a long way.
- Invest in experiences, not things. I never talk about the sofa I bought.
- Unless your goal is to look like a leather bag, wear sunscreen.
- Doing your part to take care of the earth isn’t that hard.
- Your gut instinct is probably right.
- If you feel you need to say something, say it.
- You’re not always going to get the closure you want, but that doesn’t mean you need it to move on.
- Be kind.
- Not everyone is going to like you, and that’s okay.
- Go to therapy even if you don’t think you need it.
- Meeting someone who truly gets you is hard and will take time. Don’t rush.
- Sweat at least once a day.
- You don’t need coffee to function.
- Your life will never look like an Instagram photo.
- Curiosity shaped the world we live in now. Don’t lose your curiosity.
- Know your boundaries, and know how to express yourself when they’ve been crossed.
- Sleeping on fresh, crisp bed sheets is the only way to go to bed.
- Living in a different country will teach you lessons no school could.
- You don’t need to wear that bra.
- At some point, you’re going to disappoint your parents with your life choices. Just remember, you’re writing your own story.
- You can find love on dating apps.
- Take the time to get to know yourself before dating.
- Life is a lot harder when you’re living it alone. Everyone needs a support system.
- Make time for your passions.
- Nothing is a mistake unless you don’t learn from them.
- If you don’t know what you want, that’s okay. But don’t drag other people with you along the way.
- You can change if you really want to.
